Bio

Jim O'Gara, M.Mus.,NCTM, LMBT #8676 holds a Master's Degree in Studio Composition from The Conservatory of Music at S.U.N.Y. Purchase College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music (Guitar) Performance and Mathematics from Greensboro College. Jim is a June, 2008 graduate of the Institute of Therapeutic Massage in Pompton Lakes, NJ. His focus areas within massage are trigger point therapy, treating repetitive strain injuries, and teaching clients self-massage.

Years of guitar and bass playing, as well as avid computer use, caught up with Jim in 2002 just as he was about to enter into graduate school. The lightning pain and spreading numbness in his arms derailed his music career for a year. Jim had come down with both Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) as well as Thoracic Outlet Syndrome causing him to lose function in both his arms.

Jim then met Julie Donnelly, LMT, a massage therapist and CTS survivor, who had developed the Julstro™ Self Treatment System for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. In less than a month, Jim was pain free! As a CTS survivor, he feels that it's his life mission to educate everyone, particularly musicians, about how to care for their bodies so they will not have to face the pain that he endured.

Jim currenlty lives in Jamestown, NC with his wife, Michal.
